With all new technology there are positives and negatives.
Technology helps us do more tasks however, sometimes we are either encouraged to use short cuts and sometimes we are just plain lazy and look for ways to get done faster and with less effort.
This happens with syndicating your listings on the internet.
What started out as a really time saving idea of having our listing syndicated to all the different portals on the internet but ended up losing sight of owning our listings online.

YouTube is Rocking Your World | Digital Marketing Trends
YouTube views are up again and there seems to be no stopping the momentum.
YouTube now has more than 1 BILLION active users! That is a billion with 12 zeros.
YouTube views are up 60% year by year! This is a marketing phenomena with huge profits and success stories for those who embraced video in the last 7 years.
I don't believe it is too late if you have not jumped on this wave. You still have time depending on your niche and the saturation of markets. I have not seen any saturation in the real estate space at all. There is a lot more room in this space to grow and capitalize on this wave.
The biggest surprise announced in Google's quarterly market update was watch times are way up on YouTube. The stats on the YouTube page are not updated very often. So you can catch the latest stats from Google's market updates.
The average MOBILE YouTube session is now 40 minutes!
Now before you start thinking about making super long videos, make sure your niche is involved in those 40 minute watches. My gut, instincts and experience in marketing tells me the 40 minute watch times are for classes, educational videos and watching YouTubers play games or applying makeup, etc.
I really don't see any data showing that these are listing videos 🚫.
As more and more channels start adding content to YouTube you will see that time increase. It is not slowing down any time soon. Be a part of the wave and this new media.
There are over 300 hours of video being uploaded to YouTube EVERY MINUTE!
More people enter YouTube from the YouTube home page than every before, in fact, the number has tripled this year over last.
We totally get this because we have a Generation Z son who is now 12 years old.
Generation Z loves YouTube, Twitch, Snapchat and Instagram. I wrote about taking our son to ArcadiaCon- a Minecraft convention here put on by young millionaire YouTubers. I learned so much more about digital marketing from these young people who learned how to build a community of raving fans around these fans watching them play video games.
Some of the young guys and gals we met make over 7 figures each year on ad share revenue! PewDiePie made $7 Million last year just from ad revenue sharing with YouTube. My son does not watch him because he uses bad language. He is not that kid friendly so if you have kids, you may want to be aware of that. My son likes Captain Sparkles and Bajan Canadian and other clean YouTubers who are very family G rated friendly.
This is so exciting! I am very excited to announce that the number of YouTube megastars earning 6 figures has increased by 50%. There is still room for more megastars.
YouTube advertisers have increased their ad spend by 60%. They certainly are not spending those dollars on ads that don't work. This is a new media as far as advertising goes. This is a great place for you to test your niche markets in and the cost of the ads is much lower than Google adwords.
YouTube has more 18-49 years olds watching than any U.S. cable network. Hmmm, maybe that is why the cable companies made those pesky nasty “little” deals with the government over so called net neutrality- you know the deal where they pretended to be against it? Perhaps they are really trying to figure out a way to recover from all those lost users on cable networks through regulatory measures.
We use Apple TV and Amazon Prime. We cut the cable ties several years ago and so happy we did. We can get YouTube right on our smart TVs. We can also watch movies from iTunes and Prime. There is no reason to pay the price of cable and waste time watching crap or the terribly untruthful media outlets these days. And we are not Generation Z. I think that the entire landscape of digital entertainment is changing and changing very fast.
The new roll out of YouTube ‘cards' is another way that marketers are looking to capitalize on YouTube. Check out the new cards on YouTube. This is a great way to add some more call to actions to your videos.
“How To…” videos are among the most watched videos. Think about ways that you can market to your niche with ‘How To' videos. Let your imagination come up with some how to videos your viewers would love to watch. There is no limit to what you can create in this area. How to searches are also among the most searched terms when doing YouTube searches.
Of course, with all things marketing and with all the data, make sure it matches your target audience before you jump on the bandwagon. But one thing is very clear- it is time to make videos attractive on all mobile devices.
While we are on the subject of video, don't forget about Facebook video, Vine and Instagram. And then there is Periscope.
Tip for using Periscope- on your iPhone when you download the app, open up your settings and click to add to iPhone library option. Then right when you start Periscoping, you will be prompted if you want to save to your phone. Click yes. You can always delete it later. When you save to your phone you can then upload your Periscope videos to your YouTube account. Then delete them from your phone. Otherwise, your livestreams will only save for 24 hours on the Periscope servers.
Tip for video editing if you are a beginner or just want to save time- there is no longer a need to have video editing software. Save the money and the learning curve. Edit right in the improved YouTube editor. We have macs and still love to work in our favorite app, Screenflow for mac. YouTube editor is so simple to use. You can add your captions, call to actions, link to your other videos, add your cards, add still shots and video… then choose music right from the YouTube music library so you don't get any Copyright flags.
Oh yes, be careful when you are Periscoping live events. Think twice before saving those to share on your YouTube channels. We Periscoped our Wellington Fireworks event for Independence Day and Wellington city played a bunch of music during the fireworks. I shared it and boom! Got 12 or more Copyright notices in less than 5 hours!!! You know, you don't think about the music when you are Periscoping because you are not the one playing the music. So be careful about that.
You should also set your account on YouTube to notify you of any alerts. That is how I found out so quickly. In this instance, I can leave it alone because I am not doing anything with the video. But there have been times when I have used our Apple Photo library slideshow music which we have permission to use and Apple owns the rights to. I get a notice and in those situations I appeal the violation because we do have permission to use the music, I win every time I appeal. So don't be afraid to appeal if you get flagged for music that you do have permission to use.
To get started making videos set aside time each week to do so. The fastest way to do video is to choose a day each week where you go out to take video. You can most likely get enough video shot for an entire month of short 60 second videos. Taking all your videos on one day will save you a lot of time.
Then choose another day to edit your videos. Choose another day to upload them. Then the next day you can do your SEO for your videos. Publish about 2 to 3 videos a week and you should be set.
Then you can take those 60 second videos and create shorts from them to upload to Vine and Instagram.
Strive over time for excellence but drop the perfection disorder at the door. Good is good enough!

Google Announces They Dropped Rich Snippet Author Images from SERPS
If you go to the Google Structured Data Testing Tool and add your sites, you will still see a preview of your profile photo but in the search pages we will no longer see our photos pop up.
Google also dropped our circle counts. This is not just for real estate agents but for every search except we have seen some news media sources still having their logo showing up.
John Mueller from Google said they did some “experimenting” and “discovered” there was no difference in CTR. Hmmm, that is not what they said before:). Even in the webmasters tools section Google was promoting everyone to do their authorships stating that you would get better CTR.
Well, of course, you are going to get more clicks on search results with visual images than just text entries. Google is saying that this is being done to make the mobile search experience appear smoother. But then they have said things before that were not really true, so who knows!
The chatter in the SEO forums and Google + communities is that all of our author images were distracting people from clicking on the ads, the pay per click ads. Some say big brands are complaining their CTR is dropping because searchers are clicking on images of people in organic listings. That does make a lot of sense although it is speculation.
Whatever their real reasoning is, it is what it is.
One more reason to understand that internet marketing is constantly changing and we should not ever rely on any one source for all your traffic, clicks or contacts.
Getting 9 out of 10 spots on Google results doesn't just feed the compititive spirit many of us have, but also more importantly helps you to dominate the listings in that specific market.
This does not mean you will get a ton of listings for a longtail keyword but what it means is that you have credibility because if you can do this for a keyword, imagine what you can do with a seller's property for sale! That is what you want to put into the seller's mind.
For some of these longtail keyword phrases, we may only get one listing a year but in our market, that is not a bad listing price anyhow. But some of the brokers I coach who dominate for at least 7 out of 10 spots on page one on a Google result page ( SERPS), get several listings a year from just one keyword phrase.
If you are following the case study updates with Corinne Guest- she has so far for one dominating page received 4 phone calls from sellers who need or want to list. That does not mean she is going to take all those listings. In fact, she turned down one that was ready to sign the listing agreement because he wants $100K more than what the market value of his house is.

Corinne is one of my private coaching clients. She set up a couple of websites designed for attracting listings. You never know for sure if you have a match- but in this case- she chose exactly the right keywords, exactly the right message and the right call to action.
She also made sure she did her homework to dominate 7 out of 10 spots on page one on Google!
That is a great accomplishment by itself. She actually dominates page one on Google with 9 out of 10 spots for the ONE KEYWORD PHRASE that gets her listings in her market!
What you get is the lead call from the seller. Then it is up to you to convert that call into a listing. Not all calls will convert to listings but that is not the job of your website. That part is up to you. Some people will be priced too high and won't listen to reason so you may choose to walk from taking the listing even though the seller is ready to list with you.
So far Corinne has received 3 phone calls from her new website that dominates the SERPS. She had converted one of those into a listing for sure. One of the other sellers also was ready to sign the listing but wanted too much for his house so Corinne is the one who chose not to go through with the listing. The third seller has not decided to put his home on the market yet but I am sure as wonderful and professional and articulate and attention to detail Corinne is, she will get the listing.
We will have an entire module on how to set this all up so that you can get these results like Corinne is getting. Disclaimer: Remember though, there are no real guarantees that you will get the same results as Corinne or Petra or any of the other brokers and agents that do get these results.

Sending Your Own Kisses! Coolest Tech Discovery of the Week!
Google works on art projects around the world and has labs that use their creativity to come up with new ways to use the internet and to communicate. They also work with different brands to create combined projects like this burberry kiss project.
I just tried it out by sending Nestor a Happy Father's day kiss and card- you can send images or text along with your kiss. But what is really fun about this project is that it is animated.
The entire process is interactive. You first say you want to send a kiss. Then you take a photo of your own lips in the shape of a kiss right from your computer. Then you choose your lipstick color if you are a girl. If you are a guy you send your regular skin color lips. I guess if you want to send lipstick colored lips you can:).
Then you create your message, you add the email address you want to send your kiss to. The envelope gets sealed with your original authentic kiss.
You then can watch the kiss traveling the world to its' destination on the 3D website. It is fun, the song is great and it is quite a joy to watch. You also see other people's kisses floating to their destinations.

Google's CEO- Larry Page and David Drummond the Chief Legal Officer at Google came out with their official statement regarding the latest requests by the United States Government and the rumors of PRISM.
The rumor is that Google gave the U.S. Government access to their servers through a secret program run by the National Security Agency called PRISM.
Google's official position is that they have NOT joined any secret program and have not joined any government program of any country that would give those governments secret access to their servers. Google is not giving anyone information about their users' internet activity.
Google is very adamant about making sure that EACH and EVERY request by any government fulfills the law in which that request is based. Google has a full legal team that reviews every single request by any government that requires them to turn over information. If the request does not fall within the law- it is not granted.
Verizon received an order to turn over millions of user records and data by the U.S. government. This of course, creates a lot of other press articles about other companies, Google included.
Google stands by their position that there needs to be transparency in any requests made for their users' internet activity or records of any kind. That is why they have their Transparency Report page. Google is the first company to create such a page.
You can see by this chart that there is a continuous increase of requests for information about our internet activity which is very worrisome as to the errosion of personal liberties and the danger of subverting the freedom of expression.
